## How Potion Mixing Works
When a character **combines two potions** โ by pouring them together, drinking them in the same round, or mixing them in any vessel โ the result is unpredictable. Roll on this table to determine what happens.
**The Rules:**
1. **Unknown potions first.** If either potion is unidentified, roll on the [[Random Potion Table]] to determine what it is *before* rolling on this table. The identity of both potions is now known โ write it down.
2. **Roll d100** on the table below.
3. **The result is permanent canon.** Once a combination has produced a result at your table, that pairing always produces that result for the rest of the campaign. Keep a record in the Campaign Combination Log at the bottom of this note.
4. **Timing matters.** Some effects trigger *immediately* when the potions are combined (marked ๐ฅ). Others trigger *on consumption* of the mixture (marked ๐ถ). If both potions are drunk separately in the same round without mixing, apply a โ10 to the roll.
5. **Area effects** from an immediate explosion are centered on whoever is holding the combined mixture (or the vessel it's in).
6. **Mixing three or more potions** requires three separate rolls โ resolve the first two potions, then roll again with the result treated as a mystery mixture combined with the third.

## The Table (d100)
### Tier 1 โ Mundane Reactions (01โ15)
*Mostly harmless. A little weird.*

| 04 | ๐ฅ | **Color Burst.** The mixture erupts in a harmless shower of sparks. Creatures within 10 ft must succeed a DC 10 Perception check or be blinded until the end of their next turn. No damage. |
| 05 | ๐ถ | **Wrong Order.** Both potions activate in reverse โ the second one consumed takes effect first, then the first activates 1 hour later with no warning. |
| 06 | ๐ถ | **Hiccups.** Drinker hiccups uncontrollably for 1 hour. Disadvantage on Stealth and Charisma checks requiring speech. |
| 07 | ๐ถ | **Delayed Fuse.** Both potions work normally, but neither activates immediately. Roll 1d6 โ both take effect simultaneously after that many hours. |
| 08 | ๐ถ | **Flavor Swap.** Both potions work normally, but the drinker tastes nothing during consumption. Instead, a random creature within 60 ft experiences the flavors intensely for 1 minute (distracted, โ2 to Perception). |
| 09 | ๐ฅ | **Gentle Mist.** The mixture evaporates harmlessly into a faintly sweet mist that fills a 10-ft radius. The cloud persists for 1 minute. Any creature that breathes it feels slightly relaxed โ no mechanical effect. |
| 10 | ๐ถ | **Aftertaste.** Both potions work normally. At the end of each effect, the drinker must succeed a DC 13 Con save or be Poisoned for 1 minute. |
| 11 | ๐ถ | **Sluggish Blend.** Both potions work, but all effects are delayed by 1 round. The drinker feels nothing happen, then suddenly everything kicks in at once on round 2. |
| 12 | ๐ฅ | **Tiny Explosion.** A small but dramatic pop. Holder takes 1d4 fire damage (no save) and the container is destroyed. The mixture is lost. |
| 13 | ๐ถ | **Sensitivity.** Both potions work normally, but the drinker's senses sharpen uncomfortably โ they have disadvantage on Constitution saves against loud noise and bright light for 1 hour. |
| 14 | ๐ถ | **Itchy.** Both potions work normally, but the drinker develops an intense, maddening itch for 1 hour. Disadvantage on Concentration checks. |
| 15 | ๐ฅ | **Smoke Signal.** A thin column of bright green smoke erupts 60 ft into the air. Visible for 1 mile. Draws attention. No damage. |

### Tier 2 โ Strange but Survivable (16โ30)
*Something actually happens โ sometimes good.*

| 18 | ๐ฅ | **Smoke Bomb.** A 20-ft radius cloud of thick, sweet-smelling smoke erupts from the holder. Lightly obscured for 1 minute. Wind disperses in 1 round. |
| 19 | ๐ถ | **Double Duration.** Both potions work normally but last exactly twice as long. |
| 20 | ๐ถ | **Paranoid Blend.** Both potions work normally. Drinker also gains *detect thoughts* for 10 minutes โ involuntarily. Cannot be turned off. They hear surface thoughts whether they want to or not. |
| 21 | ๐ฅ | **Grease Geyser.** A 15-ft radius *grease* spell erupts centered on the holder (DC 13 Dex save or fall Prone). No fire. Just an awful mess. |
| 22 | ๐ถ | **Borrowed Luck.** Both original effects suppressed. Drinker gains advantage on the next three d20 rolls they make, then disadvantage on the three after that. |
| 23 | ๐ถ | **Growth Surge.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker grows one size category for 1 hour, gaining +1d6 to all damage rolls but struggling to fit through standard doorways. |
| 24 | ๐ถ | **Translucent.** Both effects work. Drinker also becomes faintly translucent for 1 hour โ not invisible, but unsettling. Advantage on Charisma (Intimidation), disadvantage on Charisma (Persuasion). |
| 25 | ๐ถ | **Emotional Resonance.** Both effects suppressed. For 1 hour, the drinker feels the surface emotions of every creature within 30 ft as if they were their own. DC 14 Wis save each minute or be Stunned for 1 round by a sudden emotional surge. |
| 26 | ๐ฅ | **Repulsion Pulse.** A shockwave pushes all creatures within 15 ft of the holder 10 ft away (DC 13 Str save to resist). No damage. Container survives. |
| 27 | ๐ถ | **Memory Blip.** Both potions work normally. The drinker loses their memory of the last 10 minutes and wakes up holding an empty container. |
| 28 | ๐ถ | **Reversed Healing.** Any healing in either potion becomes necrotic damage instead. Any harmful effects become healing. Everything else works normally. |
| 29 | ๐ฅ | **Magnetic Burst.** All metal objects within 20 ft are pulled violently toward the holder. Creatures wearing or carrying metal must succeed DC 14 Str save or be dragged 10 ft. Metal weapons not held fly toward the holder (1d6 bludgeoning each, holder saves DC 12 Dex for each). |

### Tier 3 โ Risky Business (31โ45)
*Now it's getting serious.*

| 33 | ๐ฅ | **Flash Freeze.** A burst of frost radiates 10 ft. All creatures take 4d6 cold damage (DC 14 Con save for half) and are Restrained until the end of their next turn on a failed save. |
| 34 | ๐ถ | **Reckless Power.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker gains +2d6 to all damage rolls for 1 minute but has disadvantage on all saving throws for the same duration. |
| 35 | ๐ถ | **Warp Blend.** Both effects work, but at a random future time. Roll 1d6 โ effects trigger after that many hours, with no warning. |
| 36 | ๐ฅ | **Thunder Clap.** A concussive boom erupts. All creatures within 15 ft must succeed DC 14 Con save or be knocked Prone and Deafened until the end of their next turn. Holder automatically fails. |
| 37 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Reflection.** Both effects suppressed. For 1 hour, the next spell that targets the drinker is reflected back at its caster (once only). |
| 38 | ๐ถ | **Body Horror.** Both effects work. Drinker also rolls on the [[Flesh Warping Table (d10)]] โ mutation lasts until both potion effects end. *Remove Curse* ends the mutation early. |
| 39 | ๐ฅ | **Gravity Spike.** The holder is slammed into the ground by doubled gravity for 1 round โ Prone, movement 0, and takes 2d6 bludgeoning damage. Returns to normal at the start of their next turn. |
| 40 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Shrieking.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker emits an involuntary, ear-splitting shriek for 1d4 rounds. Deafens all creatures within 30 ft (DC 13 Con save or Deafened 1 minute) including the drinker. |
| 41 | ๐ถ | **Ethereal Bleed.** Both effects work. Drinker can see into the Ethereal Plane for 1 hour. Any Ethereal creatures can also see, and interact with, the drinker. |
| 42 | ๐ฅ | **Polarity Shift.** The mixture flips the holder's alignment temporarily for 1 hour (LG becomes CE, LE becomes CG, etc.). The character acts on their new alignment instinctively until the effect ends. DC 16 Wis save each round to resist an obviously out-of-character action. |
| 43 | ๐ถ | **Sapping Blend.** Both potions work. Drinker's maximum HP is reduced by 10 for 24 hours (cannot be restored early except by *greater restoration*). |
| 44 | ๐ฅ | **Ink Flood.** The mixture erupts into 15 gallons of thick black ink flooding a 10-ft radius. Difficult terrain, heavily obscures anything on the floor, and everything in the area is coated. DC 13 Dex save or Blinded until cleaned. |
| 45 | ๐ถ | **Second Heartbeat.** Both effects suppressed. For 1 hour, when the drinker drops to 0 HP they instead drop to 1 HP. This triggers once then ends. However, while active, they have vulnerability to psychic damage. |

### Tier 4 โ Dangerous Results (46โ60)

| 48 | ๐ฅ | **Fireball.** As the *fireball* spell โ 8d6 fire damage (DC 15 Dex save for half) in a 20-ft radius centered on the holder. Holder is at the center and cannot save. |
| 49 | ๐ถ | **Possession Risk.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker's soul briefly loosens from their body โ DC 16 Cha save or be possessed by a random nearby spirit for 1d4 rounds (DM controls the character). |
| 50 | ๐ฅ | **Necrotic Burst.** A wave of necrotic energy radiates 20 ft. All living creatures take 5d8 necrotic damage (DC 15 Con save for half). Undead and constructs are unaffected and drawn toward the source. |
| 51 | ๐ถ | **Wild Magic Surge.** Both effects suppressed. Roll on the Wild Magic Surge table (PHB) immediately and again at the end of each of the drinker's turns for 1 minute. |
| 52 | ๐ถ | **Curse Blend.** Both potions work normally, but drinker is also cursed โ DM chooses a lingering curse appropriate to the campaign. *Remove Curse* or *Greater Restoration* required to end it. |
| 53 | ๐ฅ | **Void Crack.** A small rift tears open. All creatures within 10 ft are pulled 10 ft toward it (DC 16 Str save to resist). The crack collapses after 1 round but leaves a 5-ft square of difficult terrain for 1 hour. Things from the other side may have noticed. |
| 54 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Unmaking.** Both effects suppressed. One non-magical item the drinker is wearing or carrying (DM's choice) dissolves into fine dust. Magical items are immune. |
| 55 | ๐ฅ | **Radiant Detonation.** Searing light erupts in a 25-ft radius. All creatures take 6d8 radiant damage (DC 15 Dex save for half) and must succeed DC 14 Con save or be Blinded until the end of their next turn. Undead and fiends have disadvantage on both saves. |
| 56 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Phasing.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker becomes intangible for 1 minute โ they can move through solid objects but cannot attack or be attacked. At the end of each of their turns, DC 14 Con save or the effect ends prematurely while inside a solid object, which deals 10d6 force damage. |
| 57 | ๐ฅ | **Slime Geyser.** Thick, demonic-smelling ichor erupts in a 30-ft cone. All creatures in the cone are Restrained (DC 14 Str save to resist) and must roll on the [[Flesh Warping Table (d10)]] on a failed save. |

| 60 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Borrowed Time.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker does not age for 10 years. However, when the effect ends (or if dispelled), they age 10 years instantly โ DC 14 Con save or gain 1 level of Exhaustion from the shock. |

| 65 | ๐ถ | **Ego Death.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker loses all memories from the past 24 hours (no save). Includes spells prepared today and knowledge of events from this session. *Greater Restoration* restores them. |

| 70 | ๐ฅ | **Temporal Stutter.** Time hiccups in a 30-ft radius. All creatures except the holder must succeed DC 17 Con save or be frozen in time (Incapacitated, cannot move or be moved) for 1 minute. Holders of magic items add their proficiency to the save. |
| 71 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Doom.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker gains 1 level of Exhaustion immediately, and gains another at the end of each of the next 5 long rests unless *greater restoration* is cast on them in that window. |

All affected creatures then fall back down at the start of their next turn, taking fall damage as normal. |
| 75 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Shared Pain.** Both effects suppressed. For 1 hour, whenever the drinker takes damage, the nearest ally takes half that amount as well (no save). The drinker is aware of this. The ally is not, until they start taking damage. |

### Tier 6 โ Catastrophic (76โ90)
*Campaign consequences.*

| 77 | ๐ถ | **Consciousness Swap.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker's consciousness swaps with a random creature within 100 ft for 1 hour (DC 18 Cha save to resist, for both parties). Each controls the other's body. Effects that kill either body end the swap early. |
| 78 | ๐ฅ | **Volcanic Eruption.** The ground beneath the holder cracks. A 15-ft radius column of lava erupts upward. All creatures in range take 12d6 fire damage (DC 18 Dex save for half) and the area becomes difficult terrain (cooling lava) for 24 hours. |
| 79 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Unraveling.** The drinker's physical form begins to destabilize. At the start of each turn for 1 minute, roll 1d4: 1 = take 4d10 force damage; 2 = teleport randomly within 30 ft; 3 = partially phase out (attacks against you have disadvantage this turn); 4 = stabilise (no effect this turn). *Greater Restoration* ends this early. |
| 80 | ๐ฅ | **Black Hole.** A singularity forms for 6 seconds. All creatures within 60 ft are pulled up to 60 ft toward the holder (DC 19 Str save to resist movement). | 84 | ๐ฅ | **Prismatic Spray.** As the *prismatic spray* spell (DMG), but targeting all creatures within 30 ft of the holder simultaneously. Roll separately for each creature. The holder is not excluded. |
| 85 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Wrath.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker flies into an uncontrollable magical rage โ as *Otto's irresistible dance* but the drinker attacks the nearest creature each turn instead of dancing, for 1 minute. DC 19 Wis save at end of each turn to end it early. |
| 86 | ๐ฅ | **Arcane Supernova.** All magic items within 30 ft of the holder discharge simultaneously, each triggering their most powerful effect โ centered on their carrier. Each carrier takes damage from their own items. Permanent magic items are not destroyed but are suppressed for 24 hours afterward. |
| 87 | ๐ถ | **Death's Door.** Both effects suppressed. Drinker is immediately reduced to 1 HP and must make 3 death saving throws (even at 1 HP). Fail all 3 and they die outright. Succeed all 3 and gain 100 temporary HP. Any other result = nothing further happens and they remain at 1 HP. |

Each creature within 30 ft must succeed DC 19 Con save or be split between planes โ Incapacitated, unable to move, and taking 5d10 force damage at the start of each turn for 1 minute. *Plane shift*, *dispel magic* (DC 19), or *greater restoration* ends it early. |
| 89 | ๐ถ | **Potion of Absolute Zero.** Both effects suppressed. A sphere of absolute cold 20 ft in radius radiates from the drinker for 1 minute. All creatures that start their turn in the area take 10d6 cold damage (DC 18 Con save for half) and have their movement halved. The drinker is immune but cannot move โ they are frozen to the spot for the duration. |
| 90 | ๐ฅ | **God's Eye.** Every divine and archdevil entity in the multiverse becomes briefly aware of the holder's exact location, current thoughts, and greatest sin. Nothing happens immediately. What happens next is entirely up to the DM and whatever entities have reason to care. |

### Tier 7 โ Legendary (91โ99)
*Roll initiative. Possibly for your soul.*

| 92 | ๐ฅ | **Rift Bomb.** A permanent 10-ft diameter planar rift tears open centered on the holder. It connects to a random layer of the Nine Hells (roll on [[Nine Hells Layer Reference]]). Cannot be closed without *wish* or divine intervention. Things may come through. Things definitely will. |
| 93 | ๐ถ | **Divine Attention.** Both effects suppressed. A deity or archdevil of the DM's choice becomes fully aware of the drinker โ their location, thoughts, sins, and desires โ for the next 30 days. They may act on this information at any time. |
| 94 | ๐ฅ | **Meteor Swarm.** As the *meteor swarm* spell (PHB). Four blazing orbs strike four points the DM chooses within 40 ft of the holder. Each deals 20d6 fire + 20d6 bludgeoning (DC 20 Dex save for half). The holder is always within one strike radius and cannot save against it. |

| 97 | ๐ถ | **Phylactery Pulse.** Both effects suppressed. Every phylactery within 1 mile vibrates violently. Souls within them can speak freely for 1 hour regardless of location. Any lich or undead creature within 1 mile immediately knows the holder's exact location and is compelled to investigate. |
| 98 | ๐ฅ | **The Last Fireball.** As *meteor swarm*, but all four strikes land on the holder's exact location simultaneously. DC 20 Dex save or take 80d6 fire + bludgeoning damage. On a success, take half. There is no safe distance within 40 ft. |
| 99 | ๐ถ | **Apotheosis Sickness.** Both effects suppressed. The drinker briefly channels divine power beyond mortal capacity โ they gain the abilities of a chosen deity for 1 round (DM adjudicates), then their body fails to contain it. They take 20d10 force damage (no save), are flung 60 ft in a random direction, and are Stunned until the end of their next turn.
